The future of food support services in Salford.
Salford Citizens Advice has played a leading role in developing, coordinating and supporting food crisis and food support services in Salford, and in particular done so by setting up the independent charity that is Salford Food Share, and through the delivery of its Feeding Salford plan.
The members of the food share network have decided that it would be more effective if we were to transfer the work of the network to a new food poverty voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) food forum organised by Salford CVS. The new forum, which will be open to all VCSE groups working in Salford working to fight food poverty and will be launched in January.
The Feeding Salford plan has broadly achieved its objectives, and it was time to start thinking about what next. In reaching this decision, the members of the network recognised that Salford CVS is uniquely well placed to take the food poverty agenda forward. Salford Citizens Advice will be proud to continue to support this vital work over future years.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this work over the years, and who has played a part in making sure that ‘nobody in Salford needs to go to bed hungry.’
